Eastlake is a well-established community located in Southeast Oakville along the shore of Lake Ontario, also referred to as Joshua Creek. It is bordered on the west by Morrison Creek, to the north by Cornwall Road, and to the east by the Mississauga border.
The Eastlake community contains many elementary schools, churches, daycare centres and a community recreation centre. Along with these amenities, Eastlake has four waterfront parks of various sizes along the Lake Ontario shoreline, the largest being Gariloch Gardens.
Gairloch Gardens is classified as a special park, as it is a unique site of historical and cultural significance. In 1922, Colonel William Mackendrick bought, landscaped and built on what was originally farm land. In 1957, James Gairdner took possession of Garolich Gardens and left the property to the town of Oakville in 1971 with the wish that the residence and land be used as an Art Gallery and a public park, which it is today. The park contains beautiful gardens located on the Lake Ontario waterfront and the Garolich Gallery was joined with Centennial Gallery to form Oakville Galleries.
Joshua Creek, located on the east side of Eastlake community, contains public parkland, recreational facilities, natural environment areas and a trail system for walking and cycling making Eastlake another great neighbourhood in Oakville.
