Old Oakville is one of the oldest communities in the Town of Oakville and is located on the shoreline of Lake Ontario between the communities of Bronte and Eastlake.  Old Oakville is bounded by the Queen Elizabeth Way on the North, Lake Ontario on the South, Morrison Creek on the East and Morden Road on the West.  This community is steps from the Oakville harbour and is known for its rich heritage, broad customer base and sense of community.

In 1833, the first home lots were sold both in town and on the shoreline.  By 1851, the population in Old Oakville reached 916 and quickly continued to grow.  In 1981, Old Oakville designated three heritage conservation districts which preserved homes and buildings with architecturally significant workmanship and historical significance.  Many of Old Oakville's early homes still remain in the community and consist of plaques of recognition of original ownership and year the homes was built.

Today, the Old Oakville community includes these historic homes south of the downtown business core as well as the Kerr Street business district consisting of local businesses, resturants and shops, access to Oakville's GO station from Trafalgar Road, Oakville's only hospital The Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and a long term care centre known as the Wyndham Manor.
